playing paintball legal in victoria?

you bet! i know i may be a bit slow, but there are some people slower then i, =), and for that reason i would like you all to know that paintball/skirmish is now playable in victoria without having to hold a firearms licence!?!? don't believe me? check this link.

for those too lazy to load that link or have not installed acrobat reader, here are the two main points of interest:

***The Firearms (Further Amendment) Act 2005 received Royal Assent on 22 November 2005. This Act will amend the Firearms Act to create a new category of firearms licence – a ‘paintball marker licence’.

***A paintball marker licence will only be required by persons wishing to acquire, or purchase, a paintball marker. Persons wishing to participate in paintball gaming, but who do not wish to acquire a paintball marker, will be exempt from the requirement to hold a paintball marker licence (or any other form of firearms licence) when using or carrying a paintball marker for the purpose of engaging in paintball activities at a location approved by the Chief Commissioner of Police.

there you have it. i understand that some of you have not been to paintball before therefore i have included two images of the dresscode required to participate in such activities in the utmost comfort, ;)

sunburnt in the snow

thank god we're all back in one piece with only a few bumps and bruises to show. it was a little disspointing we didn't get any fresh snowfall on the mountain, but nonetheless, man-made snow proved we can still have a good time on the slopes without mother natures help.

this is me and karen up in the mountain taking a break from some morning ski/boarding. it turned out to be a beautiful sunny weekend.. well a little too sunny and karen got a little sunburnt on her cheeks whilst i suffered a little on my lips

down there is the cloud 9 cafe and where all the ski/board lessons take place. on day one, everyone was there learning to ski and board, on day two we couldn't be bothered and just roamed around the mountain

this is the view from our apartment window. below is where we hired our skis/boards and left is the liftto go up the mountain. on a good season we would be able to ski right down back to our apartment, however this was not a good season.

it still turned out to be a great trip, but next time we might drive up ourselves. the bus trip is uncomfortable and we should be able to shave some time travel time by car.

21 today, well maybe add 4 more years to be precise... but close enough. what a wonderful day, the weather was beautiful, perhaps the best you can ask for during winter. my lovely karen took me out for the day and smothered me with her love, oooh. i just had to share it with you all... thanks for a lovely day babe! muah!

this time next week i'll be tumbling down the slopes of falls creek(weather permitting) and making snow angels in the soft, powdered, white snow(again weather permitting) and also building man-sized snowmen(please god let it snow). according to the website, there is currently good ski/boarding areas open however, there isn't any forecasted snowfall over the weekend and the weather bureau predicts warmer weather during the week. let's hope it doesn't melt all the precious snow up there at the moment. so for now, here are some pictures from falls creek that i'll be dreaming about til next week

ok, so i don't blame you all for thinking that i've forgotten all about this blog thing... but the truth is, i forgot my password. for some reason, the password retrieval thingy for this blog site isn't so friendly and wouldn't allow me to retrieve it..grr

anywhoo, i've been rather busy. with what you ask? nothing!! ha, i lied! yes while i continue to search for the ever elusive 'job', i continue to fill my time with such activities as 'shopping', 'watching tv', 'playing golf' and of course 'sleep-in'. gosh it's a hard life.

speaking of golf, i had to pleasure of taking my beloved karen down to the mornington peninsula last thursday for a round at the racv cape schanck resort. driving through the entrance at about 10:30am, the course was covered in fog and a little damp from overnight rain. however, after getting through the first hole, the fog had dissapeared and the same came out shining.

for those who are interested, i ended up shooting a blast!phemus 91 due to an obscene number of putts(41) and several.. i mean a couple, of botched birdie attempts. i did hit 50% of greens in regulations and 46% of fairways. the big stick didn't do too badly and i only lost one ball. can't wait for my next midweek round of golf.

tightar$e tuesday (well it was wednesday, but close enough)

well i've been rather lazy lately and haven't been bothered to blog, surprise surprise! but i couldn't resist not blogging about last wednesday. karen and i both had the day off (well i really had more than a day off, but anyways) so we decided to make the most of melbourne's beautiful weather and go explore the city. now crown is having some may $2 'dorrah spesal' so we parked there for 'guess how much?' yep.. 2 bucks! so the day's plan was to visit the aquarium, coz we both haven't been, and then take it from there. normally it's 23 bucks per adult but coz we both had student cards we were allowed 15 buck entry, woo hoo! but that's not all... we also had a buy 1 get 1 free voucher courtesy of the 'entertainment book', so effectively we saved about 30 bucks!

afterwards we decided to go find some lunch and needed to catch a tram. it turns out the whole day we kept catching trams at city circle stops and got free tram travel all day. after a bit of lunch the musuem was our next stop. again free tram travel on the city circle tram... the we get to the museum. 6 bucks per adult entry, but.. free for students, yay! save another 12 bucks!

after a long walk around the museum we met up with a friend for a chat and drinks. after about an hour or so, it was getting close to dinner time. we had originally planned to go to a stone grill restuarant but felt tired and lazy so we decided to go back to crown and eat, coz then it'd be a shorter walk back to the car =) once inside the gambling area at crown, my finger was itching to try my luck at the pokies and i also had a bunch of coins in my pocket that was weighing me down. so in goes a dollar and what do you know, on my last credit, i won 20 bucks! crown was effectively paying for my dinner and as it happens, also paid for karens. margos at crown was also having a 2 dollar special being the second main costs only 2 bucks with any other fully paid main. so with the 20 bucks i won, i only needed another 8 bucks for drinks.

so all in all it, the whole day added up to be about 53 bucks for two and included, parking, aquarium entry, tram travel, lunch, more tram travel, musuem entry, more tram travel, drinks, more tram travel and dinner. now can anyone beat that?

what do i do?

as of monday afternoon, i have found myself free of requisite daily duties. relieved? i'd say so. bored? yeah that too. why have i been blessed with this new found freedom you ask? long story, and i can't be bothered writing about it. i am now left with countless hours of each day contemplating what i will eat next and when should i eat next.

mua haha, i'm back... i've got way too much spare time during the week so here i am again, blerh! was reading the health section of the herald sun today and it suggests spending 10-15 minutes a day writing for something to do with wellbeing i think.. those who know me well know i'm a hopeless reader, what goes in usually goes out within 5 minutes. but anyways, so i'm writing..

in response to the weekend fiasco that was otherwise golf (thanks jon), it did turn out to be a glorious day with plenty of sunshine and very very little rain. i could sense all three fellow golfers thinking to themselves "if i get a cold, you're it Khar" but nonetheless my confidence in weather forecasting with aid from the bom website predicted a fine day after the morning shower and hence my head was spared.

joy, glorious joy is how i felt this morning after hearing of the miners rescue from the beconsfield mine in tasmania. could not help but shed a tear whilst watching the footage on channel 7 sunrise. great to see some good news flood the media for a change. i'll be sure to have a beer(maybe two) in celebration this weekend.

wow.. i feel like i've stumbled (well introduced really) onto a whole new world. gone are the days where people who expressed themselves on the internet are just computer nerds (like i used to be). now you don't need to be very computer literate at all to be able to make your mark on the 'world wide web' and that's the way it should be.
